WEBRING DESCRIPTION
Women at Home, or WAH, began as a chat room on Prodigy Classic. It served mainly as a forum for stay-at-home moms and wives, or "domestic engineers," as they sometimes like to be called, as well as other women working at home. Some men also came to join the fun, as did women in the business world.
A similar chat group was also formed on AOL, and the original room has now migrated to Prodigy Internet. One member maintains a central website, while another hosts a MemberSites page. Women at Home has now grown to be much more than a chat room; today's members seem to meet most frequently through mailing lists, message centers, and other online forums.
You can learn more about Women at Home forums by clicking here.
The Women at Home WebRing has two main objectives: to link together the various sites created and maintained by present WAH members, and to attract others to the ring and our community.
WHO CAN JOIN THE WEBRING
The WAH WebRing welcomes "roomies" of the Women at Home chat groups on Prodigy Internet or AOL, as well as any one else who would like to share her experiences as a wife and/or mother.
The RingMistress has sole discretion on which pages are accepted into the ring. Sites automatically excluded from the WebRing include those containing pornography or any material deemed by the RingMistress to be inappropriate to children.
HOW TO JOIN THE WEBRING
To submit your site for inclusion in the ring, please use the Submit Form. You will first need to enter the WebRing's HTML code on your page. The RingMistress will not accept your page into the WebRing without the required fragment.
DIRECTIONS FOR NEW MEMBERS
Once your site has been accepted into the Women at Home WebRing, you will be given an ID code to be pasted on to the WebRing's HTML fragment you already entered on your page.
MORE ABOUT WOMEN AT HOME
To learn more about people of the Women at Home chat rooms, message boards, and mailing lists, try these sites:
The Prodigy Internet Women at Home chat can be reached by first going to the Chat Menu page, and selecting a chat method. After choosing a nickname, you will then find "Women at Home" listed under "A Woman's Place."
Batty's Women at Home Main Site, a WebRing member site, is the only personal page (besides this one) devoted totally to the people of Women at Home. Here you can find a message center, links to member sites, web site design contests, and much more.
The "Loop" mailing list can be found through Onelist. Prospective members can ask
to be invited to join by emailing either BRGS or Flowerbudd, who will then we send an invite. Roomies can also join through direct subscription. They will be enrolled as soon as one of the three moderators approves it. A digest version is available.
Women at Home MemberSites Club Homepage is maintained by Flowerbudd. This page helps keep us in touch with a message board, family photos, and a calendar including members' birthdays.
Women at Home's Secret Pal Page is where roomies sign up to receive a secret pal to which they can send small gifts during the year. Pals can also post notes to each other here without giving away their identities. To join, contact momofthree (please note that her email address is listed incorrectly on the Secret Pal Page).
A WAH roomie can join the Secret Santa list by contacting BRGS via email. You will need to supply her with your real name, address, and a little bit about yourself, as well as what you like/collect, etc. BRGS promises to create a web page for this sometime soon.
